But what does surprise one utterly about her are lines like “I am myself most in Goa, with dirty tangled hair, on a dirt bike, raring to go.” Her mother has only now begun to acknowledge that Twinkle Khanna has become quite the stylista. “My mom’s attitude is, ‘I don’t know how you did this and I can’t believe you have done this!’” laughs the former actress, who till date detests all the hours of grooming and narcissism that stardom had enforced on her, although it did make a handsome living early on.

What followed was a dedicated vocational pursuit as an interior designer, which saw her in a nondescript kurta and jeans for years, until three years ago, as a 30-something young mum and star wife still subject to media attention,Twinkle decided to “have some fun with fashion.” It has certainly been a gradual love affair hogged by the fashion and lifestyle press.
